Reducing attachment of bacteria on surfaces
Bioinspired Patterned Coatings for the Reduction of Bacteria Attachment
In my work, I propose a bio-inspired codeposited PDA and polyMPC patterned film which can be applied to nearly any substrate. The multifunctional film will feature both antimicrobial functionality through incorporation Cetrimonium Bromide (CTAB), and antifouling functionality from the neutral charge of the polyMPC. A goal of my work is to incorporate the antifouling properties of polymer zwitterions and the antimicrobial functionality of Cetrimonium Bromide (CTAB) through the use of patterning. The resulting surface is hypothesized to provide a more effective prevention of bacteria attachment and proliferation.
