Expanding the Use of Natural Gas by Conversion of Methane
Executive Summary

This work investigates methane activation by gas phase transition metals as it relates to broadening the potential uses of natural gas, such as in the transportation sector. Vibrational spectroscopy was used to investigate entrance channel complexes of Titanium and Zirconium cations with methane. These spectra were combined with simulations to determine the complexes structure and properties.
