Harvard University
Refreshments served at 6 pm. Program begins at 6:30 pm sharp.
The UMass Amherst iCons (Integrative Concentration in Science) program welcomes Professor Dan Nocera, a leading energy scientist from Harvard University, who will lead an interactive workshop in the format of an iCons case study. iCons students, who are among the best and brightest from science and engineering majors at UMass Amherst, will tackle a problem introduced by Dr. Nocera and related to his work. During the workshop, students will work in teams to design potential solutions to this real-world problem and ultimately Dr. Nocera will present the solution he developed. This iCons format prepares students to be industry-ready, capable of teamwork, cross-disciplinary communication and innovation - an approach now starting to be replicated by other higher education institutions.
